Will This High-Rise Building Collapse Novel Re-ignite Reader Interest?
Back in 2009, veteran journalist David H. Rothman with insight from building collapse experts Kevin Parfitt of Pennsylvania State University and Gordon Batson of Clarkson University wrote a book called The Solomon Scandals. Little did Rothman know that the recent collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium complex near Miami would re-ignite renewed interest in it.
The Solomon Scandals is more than about a building collapse. It’s about the corrupt nature of media, business, and government in today’s world. The book’s prescient message is skillfully captured here:
“Why do high-rises fall down and kill people? Buildings don't collapse on their own. Humans in the end can be responsible. Behind the tragedies, so often, is error, corruption, or a mix of the two.”
