Thank you for your review of General McMaster's book. I saw his interview on MSNBC regarding his book and I was left wondering if he still supported Trump after witnessing what he saw. I do not want to put words in the General's mouth but I would say he also thinks Trump is a threat to our national security. I believe he and the other Generals who served in the Trump administration need to speak up now and let their voices be heard. Donald J Trump is a threat and is not qualified to be returned to the Whitehouse.

I think the General was quite restrained in his remarks. I don’t think Trump should be anywhere near the nuclear codes. He needs to be held accountable for January 6th, for every person who was injured or killed. He seems to think that Ashley Babbit was the only person who lost her life. He continues to claim that the crowd had some kind of RIGHT to attack the Capitol. He cannot be allowed to ever return to Washington DC.

Marc Friedman: One of the most remarkable of Coward Trump's backing down in the face of his mocked "Rocket Man," Kim Jong Un, was Trump's UNILATERAL cancellation of the annual joint armed forces field exercises and maneuvers, without getting ANY concessions from the North Korean Dictator.

These exercises are conducted annually with joint naval, air and land forces of South Korea and America.

I know of these exercises, because as a Marine Judge Advocate I had participated in these exercises in April 1977.

The annual exercises test use of armed force -- sea, air and land -- in a variety of weather and geographical conditions, is a tremendous deterrent against a brutal, self-deluded Dictator, Kim Jong Un, who pushes his hips around in pitiful feints of power -- e.g., through lobbing missiles in the Sea of Japan.

Kim Jong Un is a despicable, cowardly man who executed his own uncle through an execution with a missile -- yes, you read that right! -- aimed at the uncle's body; ordering the cowardly execution of his own half-brother in exile; and who regularly throws citizens -- as a deterrent -- in the Gulag of North Korea; who TORTURED Otto Warmbier into a coma!

It is inconceivable that "America First" is a theme of such a coward as Trump who backed down in face of Kim Jong Un.

Oh, and don't forget, Trump asked his Chiefs of Staff, why couldn't HIS generals be like HITLER's Generals (i.e., in supposed fealty to the Führer)!

I’m part way through it and I think he is too soft on Trump TBH. A little too much “here’s what I did at work today”, too. Have moved to Woodward’s “War” instead. Maybe I’ll come back to it.

A fair comment. McMaster is tougher on Trump toward the end. One thing that bothered me is his implicit assertion that he was always the smartest guy in the room. I also agree there was too much of “here’s what I did at work today.” But overall, the book is a sweeping indictment of Trump with respect to foreign policy.

He still couldn’t help himself in his attacks on Obama and Biden. False equivalency.

THIS!!

"McMaster’s book serves as a stark reminder of the importance of steady, informed leadership in an increasingly unstable world. Like many former Trump advisors, McMaster has refused to endorse Trump’s reelection, offering instead a sobering diagnosis of his presidency, and Trump’s inability to conduct foreign affairs in the best interests of our nation.”

Yet another General who waited to sound the alarm until he published his book. I found that he talked out of both sides of his mouth. I think he’s afraid that he’s gonna end up in a jail or a concentration camp with the “illegals”. Thanks for the great review, but I wouldn’t buy his book out of the bargain bin.
