Thank you, Diamond-Michael. I’m glad to know about this resource. I became a member of the sandwich generation far earlier than I intended! I’m biased because I already think books can lighten the load of so many burdens, but truly - in this area a well-timed resource can go a really long way.

Two more great ones: Sallie Tisdale’s ‘Dear Future Corpses’ is not as depressing as the title implies and provides so much comfort and practical guidance in a very slim package. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36373274-advice-for-future-corpses-and-those-who-love-them

To anyone helping care for a family member with dementia or mild cognitive impairment, Teepa Snow and her Positive Approach to Care materials have been a real lifeline for me. She’s an Occupational Therapist who has a wealth of high-quality materials (short videos, podcast, classes). Her team offers free, 30-minute calls with family members trying to get themselves sorted in this unpleasant situation so many of us face. Highly recommend. https://teepasnow.com/

Thank you for your reply and sharing these additional resources nuggets. Taking care of an older adult family is so under talked about yet such a big theme in many of our lives.

Thanks for sharing this book and also your personal experience with caregiving. In the past five years, I've found myself as the healthcare POA for my mother and younger twin sisters as they transitioned. I can't imagine providing hands on care as well. Caregiving is a hot topic and an area that needs all the resources possible.

This is so helpful, especially as all of the parentals in my family are in their 80s. I really appreciate it, but even more am taken by your beautiful writing about your mother. Thank you for sharing. 🧡
