"….Read Me the Chapters of Your Story"

Back in September of 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was raging on, I had the good fortune of speaking by phone with Rob Salafia, author of the book “Leading From Your Best Self.” A feature article I wrote about his life journey later appeared in “Great Books, Great Minds.” 

Today, an authority on executive presence and transformational learning experiences, Rob shared stories with me about his early days as a global street performer, doing shows in theaters, at festivals, and in select outdoor venues. But what I recall most about our conversation was his deep love and support for his daughter Maya, an aspiring songwriter and musical performer. 

Yesterday, during a quiet moment of reflection while scrolling through my LinkedIn feed, I came across a post by Rob featuring a song by Maya called “Everlasting.” While I am not normally inclined to allow things like this to interrupt the flow of my day, I decided to take a listen. Needless to say, I found myself powerfully moved by the heart and depth of her song. 

I’ve had a rough stretch these past couple of weeks building momentum for “Great Books, Great Minds.” But the message I felt after listening to “Everlasting” is to never give up on my dreams, the story chapters that are the essence of my existence.
