In the early 2000s, a serendipitous encounter in downtown San Francisco ignited my lasting love affair with Peet's Coffee. I was visiting Berrett-Koehler Publishers, a beacon of progressive thought and innovation in the publishing world when one the editorial staff recommended that I check out a Peet’s just down the street from their offices.
I love it! I wonder if we could have been there at the same time. I would have been the one sitting outside on the only bench with a brown dog on a red leash next to a very tall guy and also a very short guy. This is what I love about Peet's and what you so wonderfully wrote about in your piece - there is a community of people who love Peet's, gather there and want to know one another. Granted this particular Peet's is teeny tiny, but even so, people gather outside in the parking lot to connect!
I LOVE Peet's! I've been going there since I was in my early 20s, the one in Palo Alto on the corner of Homer and Alma whenever I'm in town.
Yessss! I visited that location years ago.
