Thanks for the great article to start my day. I love both of these third places. I am currently living in a rural area without easy access to either type of locale but make the time to visit whenever we go to larger metropolitan ateas.
Memphis is the closest city although Nashville has better options for both types of venues. There are a couple of great independent bookstores in the Memphis area that I make sure to get to every time I am in town.
In the UK most provincial bookshops have limited floor space and consequently they're filled with books and have nowhere to sit and chat or have coffee. I love going to the larger stores but I don't think they get the vibe quite right - they feel more like franchises that just want to make money rather than relaxed conversational spaces. I think your take on third-spaces is wonderful. We need more of them in our high streets.

Hi, Matthew. Great to hear. What nearby metro area do you travel to for your book and wine fix?

Nice. What bookstores resonate with you in the Memphis area?
A couple of my favorites are Novel and Burke's Books.
Another place to add to my must-visit list!
It was over-the-top amazing! Enjoyed it immensely. Highly recommend!

Very interesting. That’s very unfortunate as there is nothing better than a bookstore to have cozy spots to sit, lay and nestle in with a book.
